There is something to look at for connoisseurs of antiquity - for example, the Festetics castle on the northwestern shore of the lake or the Benedictine abbey on the Tihany peninsula. If you have enough time, take a trip to the popular spa resort by the beautiful thermal lake Heviz.
For a small town in Pec, there are surprisingly many attractions - from early Christian burials, Catholic cathedrals, and Turkish mosques to modern art galleries, open-air photo exhibitions, and a scattering of museums. It is also worth completing the route here because of the excellent restaurants and pastry shops where you can refresh yourself before a late return to Budapest.
